Thompsons are one of Ireland's most renowned and respected Funeral Directors who have been serving the needs of Waterford City and County for over 225 years. We are founder members of the Irish Association of Funeral Directors and John Thompson is a past President of the Association.

We have a reputation for providing a professional, high quality service and many of our client families have been seeking our services for generations. We conduct our business in a sensitive, dignified and efficient manner, allowing peace of mind to bereaved families.

We conduct funerals for all religious denominations and provide a complete repatriation service. Always at the forefront of the Funeral Industry, in 2011 Thompson's became the first Funeral Directors in the World to launch a dedicated iPhone app and in 2013 became the first Funeral Director in Ireland, and one of the few in the World, to acheive the ISO9001:2008 Quality Management Standard.

Mr. Fabian O Donnell, Ferrybank, Waterford, late of Shaws, Waterford and formerly of Keldon Corrin View, Fermoy, Co. Cork and Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim, Who died on Wednesday, 25th May, 2016. Removal from Thompson’s Funeral Home, Barrack Street, on Friday at 10:00am to the Cathedral for Requiem mass on arrival at 10:30am. Followed by private cremation in The Island Crematorium Cork. No flowers please.

Margaret (Madge) Whelan

Mrs. Margaret (Madge) Whelan nee Reale, The Bungalow, Kingsmeadow, Waterford, Who died on Tuesday, 24th May, 2016. Reposing at her residence on Wednesday from 5pm until 8pm, on Thursday from 3pm until 8pm and on Friday from 1pm until 3pm. Removal from her residence on Friday at 6pm to St. Paul’s Church. Requiem Mass on Saturday at 2pm. Funeral afterwards to St. Otteran's Cemetery.

Walter (Walty) O'Neill

Mr. Walter (Walty) O'Neill, Connolly Terrace, Waterford, and late of Monastery Street and Waterford City Library, who died on Sunday 22nd May, 2016. Removal from Thompson's Funeral Home, Barrack Street, on Thursday at 6.15pm to the Holy Family Church. Requiem Mass on Friday at 11am. Funeral afterwards to St. Otteran's Cemetery.

Nora Kennedy

Nora Kennedy, Ballinakill, Waterford, who died on Friday, 20th May, 2016. Funeral Mass on Sunday at 2pm in St. Joseph and St. Benildus Church, Newtown, Waterford. Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner. Family Fowers only please. Donations, if desired, to Waterford Hospice Home Care team. House strictly private.
